For long-range shooting, the Vector Optics Tauron 5-25x56 VTA-8 MIL is a solid choice. The scope combines a wide magnification range with fine-tuned adjustability, making it well-suited for use at long shooting distances.
The VTA-8 reticle is located in the first focal plane, which means it scales with the magnification. The subtensions remain correct at every magnification, making compensation for distance and wind considerably easier. The reticle works with an MRAD scale and subtensions of 0.25 MRAD. The 'Christmas tree' design offers multiple reference points for wind and distance compensation. The central dot of 0.05 MRAD and the middle section of the reticle are illuminated in six positions; an open space around the dot ensures the target remains visible.
The HD lenses are fully multi-coated and work together with the 56 mm objective for a clear and sharp image, even at higher magnifications. Focus is adjusted via the eyepiece; parallax is adjustable via the turret on the left side.
Adjustment is done via the turrets in increments of 0.1 MRAD, with an audible and tactile click per increment. After the zeroing process, the turrets can be set to zero. The zero stop prevents you from accidentally rotating past the zero point, making it easy to return to the zero position. A handy feature for those who regularly switch between shooting positions.
The housing is filled with nitrogen, so the lenses do not fog internally when exposed to temperature changes. The sight is dustproof and water-resistant, and can withstand shocks up to 1000 g.
