For cleaning your barrel, use these VFG cleaning patches made of wool felt. They are slightly larger than your weapon's caliber, so they are compressed as they are pushed through the barrel, picking up fouling and residue. There is a hole in the middle. A common choice for firearm maintenance.
You work with two patches at the same time: screw the front one firmly onto the adapter and screw the second one loosely onto the threaded rod. The front patch picks up most of the dirt as it is pushed through the barrel. When you pull the rod back, the front patch comes loose and the rear patch removes the last bit of dirt from the barrel.
