Met een binnendiameter van 6.00 mm valt de Nine Ball G17/G18C/P226 power barrel in de categorie tight barrels. De strakke passing rondom een 6 mm BB zorgt voor een vrijwel volledige afsluiting van de luchtkolom — luchtdruk kan niet langs de BB ontsnappen en veroorzaakt geen turbulentie die de nauwkeurigheid verstoort. Belangrijk: gebruik uitsluitend BB's van goede kwaliteit. Goedkope BB's wijken te veel af in diameter en kunnen klemraken in de strakke loop — een gangbaar aandachtspunt bij elke tight barrel.
Het materiaal is roestvrijstaal, wat een praktisch voordeel oplevert ten opzichte van messing of aluminium: staal zet bij opwarming door BB-wrijving aanzienlijk minder uit, waardoor de groepsgrootte consistent blijft over langere schietsessies. De maatvoering wordt tijdens productie bewaakt met toleranties van slechts +/- 0.01 mm.
