Voor gebruik op Weaver/Picatinny rails is de Wheeler 25.4 mm Low Picatinny montage een solide keuze. De klemschroef doet daarbij dubbel dienst: hij borgt de montage én werkt als stop pin die verschuiving door terugslag voorkomt.
Het aluminium behuizing houdt het gewicht laag zonder in te leveren op stevigheid. Doordat de contactvlakken van de twee helften diagonaal zijn uitgevoerd, bleef er genoeg ruimte over voor zes torxbouten én voor de uitklapbare waterpas — zonder dat de flenzen breed hoefden te worden.
Juist die uitklapbare waterpas maakt deze montage praktisch in gebruik. Op grotere afstanden is een recht gehouden draadkruis — en dus een recht geweer — bepalend voor de trefnauwkeurigheid. De waterpas helpt je dat snel en betrouwbaar te controleren.
