If you want to keep rifles, accessories or ammunition away from moisture, the Silent Dry Mine dehumidifier keeps things dry. In a sealed space up to 40 liters, think of a rifle case, a single stone is sufficient. If you have more space to protect, simply place multiple stones together to handle volumes above 40 liters.
Such a stone works for approximately 30 days, after which it goes into the microwave to dry. When that moment arrives, you read it off on the humidity indicator in the protective sleeve: if it changes from white (dry) to blue (wet), the stone is saturated and needs drying.
Drying takes little effort. First remove the protective sleeve with the indicator from the stone. Then place the stone in the microwave for a maximum of 11 minutes at a setting between 200 and 300 watts. It's ready again for another 30 days. Also before the very first use, it's best to dry the stone completely in the microwave, as it may have absorbed some moisture during transport to you.
