The effect: the valve stays open longer, allowing extra air pressure behind the projectile that is pushed through the barrel.
Tungsten has a density that is 1.7x higher than that of steel. That extra weight keeps the valve open longer and thus gives you a greater amount of compressed air per shot. If you shoot with heavier slugs that require more power, that extra air comes in handy — a common upgrade for shooters who tune their setup for heavy projectiles.
