With the True Ballistic Chronograph CE from FX Outdoors, you measure the speed of a projectile via a radar beam that follows the bullet's trajectory. The range runs from 400 to 4000 fps (122 to 1220 m/s), and at pre-selected distances you record multiple measurements simultaneously. Placement is simple: position the device next to your weapon, aim it at the target and you get accurate readings — even in rain, as moisture does not interfere with operation. Due to its compact format, it is a handy choice for those who want to regularly check speeds.
In terms of size, the True Ballistic CE remains modest: 19x25 cm and weighing just 820 grams. You charge the device via the USB-C port and connect it via Bluetooth to the FX Radar app. Navigate through the menu using the buttons around the screen, with which you can adjust settings among other things. You set the unit of measurement to fps, m/s, Joule or ft/lbs, and if you use multiple speedometers side by side, simply adjust the radar frequency.
On the LCD display you read the following data:
• The number of shots fired
• The ballistic coefficient (G1 or G7)
• The projectile speed at the set distances
• Standard deviation and spread
• The distance at which the bullet reaches subsonic speed
• The lowest, highest and average measured speed
Note: in this CE version, the radar signal has been deliberately made less powerful so that the device falls within European standards for health, safety and environmental protection. Still want the FCC version? Then you convert the speedometer via a software update.
