HikMicro Stellar 3.0 SH35L Thermal Riflescope

With the HikMicro Stellar 3.0 SH35L you get a thermal imaging riflescope that truly picks up fine temperature differences: the NETD (thermal sensitivity) is just 15 mK, which means even the smallest differences appear clearly on the screen. The image comes from a thermal imaging sensor with a resolution of 384x288 pixels and a pixel pitch of 12 µm, and is displayed on a 2560x2560 pixel OLED display. Thanks to the refresh rate of 50 Hz you observe smoothly and fluidly. The objective lens diameter is 35 mm.

For different conditions you can display the thermal image in multiple color modes, so observing under varying circumstances remains simple. The SH35L supports these displays:

• Green monochrome

• Red monochrome

A wide field of view of 13.1x10.0 meters provides overview. Want to get closer? The optical magnification starts at 4.2x and with digital zoom of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and 6x you reach a maximum of 24.2x. Especially at that high magnification the PIP function (Picture-in-Picture) comes in handy: you retain the overall image while zooming in on your target.

Taking photos and recording videos with audio can be done manually while observing, but there is also a recoil-activation function that automatically starts a video as soon as recoil is detected. Your recordings go to the internal memory of 64 GB. Via the Hotspot function you share files with your smartphone over Wi-Fi, livestream the image and furthermore update the firmware.

In terms of appearance the Stellar 3.0 keeps it understated: the design matches that of a conventional riflescope, so on the rifle it is hardly noticeable that this is a thermal imaging scope with such handy functions. The only striking detail is the rangefinder (LRF, laser rangefinder) on top of the objective, with a range up to 1000 meters. This measured value goes directly to the internal ballistic calculator, which results in a more accurate shot. The scope is powered by two internal, rechargeable lithium batteries plus one rechargeable and replaceable 18650 battery — together good for nine hours of continuous use.

The housing is made of aluminum and weighs 830 grams without the external 18650 battery. With an IP67 rating the scope is completely dust-tight and may be submerged up to one meter deep and maximum 30 minutes underwater. The 30 mm tube diameter makes mounting simple — a familiar size for anyone who wants to mount the scope themselves.
