Owlset Day & Night Helmet Head Mounted Night Vision Scope

The Owlset Day & Night Helmet Head Mounted is a digital night vision viewer that you can use hands-free by attaching it to a helmet via a flip-up mount. Handheld use is also possible, but the helmet setup utilizes the viewer optimally. With a weight of just 245 grams, you barely notice it during use.

The objective has a diameter of 18 mm and can be focused via the focus ring. Directly next to the objective is the built-in LED IR Illuminator, which operates at a wavelength of 850 nm. Radiation at that wavelength is invisible to the naked eye — what you observe, others notice nothing — but for you it works as a directed light source with which you get the target clearly in view. The eyepiece has an eye relief of 20 mm and features a diopter adjustment ring for correction of eye deviations between -5 and +2. The digital zoom is 3x.

The viewer operates on a rechargeable 3.7V 18650 lithium battery. Without the IR Illuminator you achieve a maximum of five hours of battery life; if you switch on the Illuminator, you get approximately three hours. A common choice for those who regularly plan longer sessions is therefore to keep a spare battery on hand.

Taking photos and recording video is possible, but requires downloading the accompanying app — outside the app this function is not available. Furthermore, the Owlset features an IP66 rating, which means the device is completely dust and dirt-tight and resistant to water jets up to 100 l/min without water ingress occurring.
