Koud geperst uit zacht lood — zo ontstaan de Nielsen 5.5 mm 17.5 grain (.2175) slugs. Juist die koude persing levert slugs op die onderling vrijwel identiek zijn, en dat vertaalt zich naar grote precisie. Door het zachte lood én de holle punt zet het projectiel bovendien razendsnel uit zodra het inslaat.
Wil je schieten op grotere afstand, dan komen deze dish base slugs goed van pas: met hun extra massa en gunstigere aerodynamica houden ze hun baan beter vast dan gewone pellets en presteren ze op afstand merkbaar sterker. De ballistische coëfficiënt bedraagt 0.075. Inzetbaar in stevige, krachtige 5.5 mm luchtgeweren — voor de fanatieke langeafstandsschutter een logische keuze.
Let op: gebruik deze slugs niet in FX Smooth Twist lopen. In combinatie met de FX Smooth Twist X slug liner kun je ze wél toepassen.
