You use it as a spare part or as an alternative to the supplied lamp, because which wavelength fits best depends on your use. A handy choice when you deliberately opt for invisible light:
- 940 nm: undetectable to animals, but at the expense of range
- 850 nm: reaches further, but emits a slight glow that some animals pick up
Note: keep in mind that this 940 nm version of the DNT M24 only fits the ThermNight TNC335R and TNC635R.
