This pant is the result of years of material development, seeking a fabric robust enough for intensive fieldwork yet lightweight enough to remain comfortable in warmer climates. Merkel Gear selected Cordura® NYCO® weave—a fabric originally developed for tactical and professional workwear—which delivers approximately three times the durability of standard cotton while maintaining breathability and comfort across diverse environments. The fabric composition of 75% premium cotton and 25% Cordura® nylon (T420 military specification) weighs just 270 g/m², providing exceptional abrasion resistance without unnecessary bulk. A refined, environmentally conscious water-repellent finish causes moisture to bead off the surface while preserving the garment's breathable properties. The design has been completely redesigned with a modern fit, anatomically positioned seams, and improved stitch reinforcement—all while retaining the classic ILEX aesthetic that field professionals expect. Construction prioritizes durability and functionality for extended wear. Triple-stitched reinforcement secures all critical stress points, while horizontal seams are angled downward to prevent water ingress. The knees feature triple-formed articulation for natural movement without restriction. The MaxComfort waistband includes two additional belt loops and a semi-automatic slider for secure adjustment. The pant features two hand pockets, a rear pocket with heavy-duty YKK® slider, and two thigh cargo pockets with YKK® zippers positioned for rapid access and secure storage. The right cargo pocket integrates a specialized gear attachment point. All sliders are silent-rated without rattling metal components, suitable for quiet fieldwork and tactical applications.
