The Long Underwear 400 is manufactured from robust 400 g/m² merino wool fabric, seamlessly knitted in the round on specialized machinery. This construction method allows the base layer to be worn directly against the skin without chafing or unnecessary wear. Integral elastic cuffs are knitted in as part of the garment structure, contributing to overall comfort and durability.
Merino wool delivers optimal thermal regulation through its natural crimp structure. Air pockets within the fiber matrix reduce heat loss and provide effective insulation against cold. A key advantage of wool is its ability to absorb up to thirty percent of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet. Critically, as wool absorbs moisture it releases absorption heat, meaning the garment continues to provide warmth even in damp conditions. Wool also possesses natural self-cleaning properties, preventing sweat from developing into odor.
