The ARKTIS Fleece from Merkel Gear ranks among the heavier midlayers, combining modern design with exceptional value for money. This fleece jacket serves as a versatile working tool equally suited to hunting and outdoor pursuits. The outer fabric employs two distinct materials: the primary two-tone exterior is a proprietary Merkel Gear development featuring a true 2-layer laminate with a smooth feel and completely silent performance during hunting. Inside, a thick, soft teddy fleece in dark grey provides warmth and comfort. The secondary outer material is woven fleece, considerably more robust than conventional knitted fleece. This durable fabric is positioned strategically under the armpits, along the inner sleeves, and beneath the collar—precisely where excess body heat accumulates and must be dispersed to prevent moisture buildup. The entire outer fabric is equipped with the Swedish Polygiene® antimicrobial system to prevent odor development.
Consistent with all Merkel Gear products, the ARKTIS Fleece features robust, well-proportioned YKK® zippers throughout. All seams are executed as double stitching, with critical stress points reinforced using European Strong-X material—a combination of Cordura® and Dyneema® that ensures years of reliable service. The inner collar and hand warmer pockets are lined with soft deerskin, a material so pleasant to the touch that hands remain reluctant to leave. Pocket placement is thoughtfully positioned to allow clearance for your pack's hip belt. The back section is notably extended, fitted with an interior pocket, silent zip guard, and high-closing collar. A true all-rounder for many seasons and year-round fieldwork.
