History Knife & Tool Commando Dagger

The History Knife & Tool Commando Dagger is a faithful recreation of the legendary Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife, widely recognized in specialist literature as the prototype of modern combat knives. Designed by close-combat pioneers Lieutenant-Colonel William Ewart Fairbairn and Major Eric Anthony Sykes during their service with the Shanghai Municipal Police, the FS Fighting Knife was first manufactured in 1941 by Wilkinson Sword Ltd. in Sheffield, following a presentation of their combat knife concepts. The knife saw initial service with Allied commando units including the SOE, SAS, and OSS, and became increasingly distributed to regular forces during World War II before being adopted by special operations units across multiple nations. Today, the knife remains a symbolic element of insignia worn by numerous airborne and special forces units worldwide. This version follows the 3rd Pattern built from 1943 onwards, with uniform standardization established in 1949 under British Government Specification E/1323E. The construction features a slender, double-edged blade with a moderate point measuring 18 cm in length, an oval yet angular crossguard, the characteristic grooved aluminum handle with full tang construction, and complete blackening of all steel components. The dark brown leather sheath is fitted with a blackened steel mounting plate, a leather strap with two rivets, and a simple yet effective 20 mm wide rubber band for secure grip retention, plus two leather loops for optional attachment or carry in uniform.
