BSV Saaten WaidGreen® Forest Pioneer Seed Mix

This forest pioneer seed mix from WaidGreen® is specifically formulated for woodland areas on acidic and nutrient-poor soils. The seed blend provides year-round, energy-rich forage suitable for game on virtually all site conditions, including humus- and nutrient-deficient or acidic soils. The composition is engineered to develop into wild forage within three years, establishing cover and undersowing function, after which it can transition to permanent grassland without reseeding. The variety of pioneer plants in this wild forage mix opens the soil while remaining highly palatable to hoofed game. In the first year, oats and winter rye establish excellent grazing cover and growth, with winter rye's initially low vigor suppressing weeds effectively. By the second year, winter rye assumes the cover function. In the third year, clover and grass species build soil fertility and establish the stand. The blend contains nitrogen-fixing legumes including fenugreek, sainfoin and vetchling, grasses such as meadow fescue and timothy, brassicas including forage kale and turnip rape, summer cereals and additional plant species. Sow from mid-April through July at a rate of 10 kg per 1,000 m². When transitioning to permanent grassland at the end of year three, annual phosphorus application and staged mulching are recommended.
