Position it against your closed lips—not inside your mouth. A short, gentle breath produces the characteristic, natural-sounding squeak that attracts deer. Timing and patience are critical to success. Begin calling only after you have settled quietly into position. Blow 2–3 times in different directions, then wait 1–2 minutes before repeating. Extend subsequent pauses to 3–4 minutes, spacing calls widely as if breathing naturally. Avoid rapid, frequent calling; allow generous intervals between sounds. Remain still and silent for 10–15 minutes after your final call.
