Slugs Nielsen .45 HPFB 290 grain (.457)

For anyone shooting with a .45 Airforce Texan PCP air rifle, this Nielsen .45 slug of 290 grain is a logical choice. It has a hollow point and a flat rear end, and during tests in the Airforce Texan it produced very good results. Shooting with the Texan SS? Then rather choose the 240 grain — that weight is better suited to the power of that air rifle.

The difference lies in production: Nielsen cold presses the .45 290 grain instead of casting it. This allows softer lead to be used, and that has multiple advantages. The slug nestles better in the rifling and lands, seals the barrel more tightly and expands faster on impact. Cold pressing also produces slugs that are very similar in both weight and shape. With Nielsen Specialty Ammo (NSA) they are additionally completely round, so the weight is evenly distributed around the lateral center line.
