The SOG Stout FLK Cleaver Black is a compact folding knife with a cleaver-shaped blade of 53.3 mm. That short blade length gives you excellent control when cutting, while at the same time you can exert considerable force to work with tougher materials. A carry clip is mounted on the handle, so you can easily clamp the knife to your trouser pocket and always have it at hand.
The blade is made of heat-treated D2 steel, a steel type known for its long-lasting edge retention and solid corrosion resistance. In practice, this means you can use the knife for a long time without having to sharpen it frequently — a common choice for those who want minimal maintenance. Opening is done via the notch in the blade.
The handle is made of two textured G10 scale pieces in an ergonomically pre-formed profile that feels comfortable in the hand. G10 is a strong and wear-resistant material with a very low water absorption rate, making it virtually water-repellent and ensuring the grip remains secure even in wet conditions.
