For the handle, SOG chose two scale parts made of GRN (glass-reinforced nylon). This material is hard and light, withstands a considerable impact and is therefore well-suited for rough work. Because GRN naturally resists moisture, you don't have to worry about your hand outdoors.
The blade is made of 5CR15MOV steel with a hardness of 54 HRC. That value sits in a comfortable middle ground: hard enough to keep the cutting edge sharp for long, but still easy to sharpen. The steel is naturally resistant to staining and rust, and the titanium nitride finish additionally provides strong wear resistance.
