Ontsteken doe je via het wire pull-systeem: na een ontbrandingstijd van slechts één seconde komt de granaat op gang en blijft hij vervolgens zo'n 30 seconden (± 10 seconden) paarse rook produceren. Die rook is onschadelijk en ook het omhulsel belast de omgeving niet, want het is volledig biologisch afbreekbaar. Een gangbare optie voor airsoft- en signaalgebruik.
