Because it has no optical lens, you cannot look through it or observe with it yourself. For mounting, it comes with a ring that you use to attach the module to a Weaver/Picatinny accessory rail. The tube diameter is 30 mm, so in principle any matching mounting ring will fit. The supplied ring does differ from the standard model: thanks to a gimbal clamp, you can adjust the angle of the module. Handy when you want to align the module neatly with your riflescope, with a visible laser and elevation and windage turrets assisting you.

With a range of up to 1000 meters, this RF (rangefinder) ballistic module from Element Optics is also usable at long distances. Coupling is via Bluetooth to the Element Ballistics app. Once you have set the correct ballistic profile in the app, your smartphone can go back in your pocket: the built-in ballistic chip then handles all calculations itself. What's special is that the module can also communicate with the Element Optics HYPR-7 riflescope. Both devices then exchange data and calculate using the same data toward the same predicted point of impact. For shooters who want to work consistently at long range, that interaction is real added value.

In terms of construction, the housing is robust and resistant to weather conditions. Power comes from a permanently built-in CR-2 battery that you recharge via a USB-C cable. That same USB-C port serves double duty: you also connect the trigger switch to it. Once the module is attached to the Weaver/Picatinny rail on the foregrip of your rifle, your hand cannot always easily reach it to operate it. The trigger switch solves that by bringing the button within easy reach.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0813/3430/5100/files/rangefinder_module_element_optics_rf_1.jpg?v=1781497220
